Defense is really powerful, as it the chance to block. I guess they figured with the right abilities, using a shield to boost defense, block and dodge is worth sacrificing the extra damage.

That said, I too feel like 1H sort of lack in stats. Even trying to combine the best two 1-handers I've found, they are never as good as my best 2-handed weapons.

they arent that bad, i got a 1-handed chopper with 16-34 and 52% crit damage, found it within one day and a few other 1-handed weapons with similar stats, one sword i found had over 5% crit chance. i am playing 1-hand + shield and it works great, but i would recommend using 2-hand until you find a decent 1-hand and shield.

Im using 1-hand + shield + a amulet that gives 1-9 damage to my stats. It works good right now.

The problem I have with 1h is that it's the same speed as 2h weapons: 0.5-0.6
Daggers are a bit faster but the damage is really low . Maybe if the slowest 1h would be 0.7 and the fastest 1.0 then things could be better but right now some high dmg 2h that crits for 200+ is just way better especially because you have various high % aoe skills like Swipe, Bladestorm and Sonic Blade.
The 1h block path doesnt offer much in regard to aoe dmg and Counterattack even with 200% dmg returned seems kind of low dmg.

If your in the first zone then yeah they suck. The next zone i got lucky with 1hand drops. I'm using a wand that does 25-36 with a rare shied. It seems to work.

the problem i have is that mages are extremely weak compared to warriors. as a warrior i almost never have to rest and i can take on two minions at once while as mage i cant fight more than one enemy at once and after every kill i have to rest because i have spend more than half my mana even though i put points into mana skill slots and i have lots of focus on all my items.

They are different. I can kill multiple elites at the same time. I've killed as many as 6 mobs at a time on my mage. Yes we rest more, but if you are built for AE damage, you can kill a lot of stuff at the same time.

I do agree though, 1h weapons need a boost. They should be nearly 2x as fast and at least have half the stats. Most of them lack stats and are slow.

Yea. For mage, dual wielding is really good if you put point in ventillate. Coupled with fireball and maybe some rare weapons that reduce cast speed, u can take on multiple mobs coupled with bloom(cost no mana).
My mage has 55 def and hits pretty hard with dual wield that i can tank nayda w/o problem face on. It depends on your equipments mostly and how you want to do it.

I feel like dual wielding for the blade class is terrible just for the fact that none of the tree's really go with it at all. There isnt a single skill that is better for dual wielding instead of just using a 2 hander. Perhaps the skill trees just need updated with some new stuff specifically for it.

I addressed this issue on the bug report page. They will consider buffing their damage.

I don't think the speed of the weapon is that important, because that only comes into play when you do a basic attack. Almost every attack I do use some skill, and then it is the cooldown time of the skills that matter. I select my weapon based only on the damage it does, not the DPS.
